There will be bus transportation between the hotel on Rua Pamplona and the institute in Barra Funda during the week of February 14-18. On these days, the bus will leave the hotel at 9:15 and will leave Barra Funda at 19:15.
Alternative transportation is by metro which is a 35 minute trip. Try to avoid the metro during the hours of 7:30-9:00 and 17:30-19:30. To take metro from the hotel, walk three blocks up Rua Pamplona to Avenida Paulista. Enter the metro station Trianon-Masp at Avenida Paulista, and buy at least one ticket for 2.65 reais at the booth "bilheteria". Take the metro in the direction of the station Vila Prudente and get off at the second stop which is Paraiso. Switch at Paraiso to the Blue line in the direction of Tucuruvi and get off at the fourth stop which is Se. Switch at Se to the Red line in the direction of Palmeiras-Barra Funda and get off at the last stop which is Palmeiras-Barra Funda.
To reach the institute from this metro stop, follow the the signs to the exit which is called Av. Marquis de Sao Vicente. After passing through the turnstiles, turn left and walk until the end of the station. At the end of the station, descend the steps and you will see a large white and blue building immediately across the street in front of you. The white and blue building is the Instituto de Artes, and next to it is a large white and green building which is the Instituto de Fisica Teorica. Enter in the gate between the two buildings, and the auditorium is on the fourth floor of the white and green building.
To return to the hotel, reverse the procedure. Take the Red line at Palmeiras-Barra Funda in the direction of Corinthians-Itaquera and get off at the fifth stop which is Se. Switch at Se to the Blue line in the direction of Jabaquara and get off at the fourth stop which is Paraiso. Switch at Paraiso to the Green line and get off at the second stop which is Trianon-Masp.
