The South American Center for Theoretical Physics (CeSAFT) is a new regional center initiated in 2009 for organizing activities in all areas of theoretical physics.
The current location for the center is the Institute for Theoretical Physics (IFT) in Sao Paulo, which is an institute of the State University of Sao Paulo (UNESP). The local organizer of the center is Nathan Berkovits (IFT-UNESP), the scientific adviser of the center is Juan Maldacena (Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton), the secretary of the center is Luciana Macuco Quiles (IFT-UNESP) and the director of the institute is Rogerio Rosenfeld (IFT-UNESP).
The first activities organized by CeSAFT will include a minicourse on applications of quantum field theory by Professor Anthony Zee (KITP, Santa Barbara), a workshop/discussion on future activities of the center, and a quantum gravity workshop organized by Prof. Victor Rivelles (IFUSP, Sao Paulo). These three activities will take place from August 17 - September 11, 2009 and a limited number of four-week fellowships are available for advanced doctoral students who would like to participate in these three CeSAFT activities.
Questions about CeSAFT should be sent to cesaft@ift.unesp.br, and more information on these activities can be found at the following links:
