Arrival Instructions to hotel and to old IFT building:

You will be arriving at Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo. There are two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which are located at opposite ends of the airport where you will exit from customs. From 11 am - 10 pm on Thursday December 2, there should be a student Christian Lopez (cellphone 7259-2032) carrying a sign LASS2010 near the exit of Terminal 1 who can give assistance. At the airport, you should change at least 100 US dollars which will get around 160 brazilian reais. After you arrive at the hotel and present a copy of your airline ticket receipt, you will receive tickets for your meal costs during the days that you are supported by the school.

The easiest way to get to your hotel from the airport is to take a blue air-conditioned bus for `Avenida Paulista (Circuito Hoteis)' which leaves every 60-70 minutes from a bus-stop which is halfway between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The bus schedule is 06:10, 07:10, 08:20, 09:30, 10:40, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:10, 16:10, 17:20, 18:30, 19:30, 20:40, 22:00, and 23:10. You will need to buy a ticket for 31 reais which is sold at a counter near the car-rental agencies just outside the airport near the sidewalk. You need to take the bus called `Avenida Paulista' and get off at the final stop which is called Maksoud Plaza. Depending on traffic, the trip will take between 40 and 120 minutes.

The bus will drop you off at the final bus stop, Maksoud Plaza, which is located at the corner of Al. Campinas and R. Sao Carlos de Pinhal (on the lower right-hand corner of the map below). You are now a five-minute walk from the old IFT building and hotel. To get to the hotel, you should walk in the direction of the bus along R. Sao Carlos de Pinhal until you get to R. Pamplona, where you should make a right turn. At the fork in the road, you should follow the left-hand side of the fork and continue on R. Pamploma. The old IFT building is located on the right-hand side of the street at R. Pamplona 145. The hotel where you will be staying  Hotel Intercity, The Universe Flat is located two buildings after the IFT at R. Pamplona 83.

If you decide to take a taxi (which should cost around 100 reais), you need to buy a ticket with Guarucoop Taxi which is located just outside the airport on the sidewalk. You should tell the taxi driver you want to go to the Hotel Intercity Universe Flat which is on Rua Pamplona 83, off of Avenida Paulista. The hotel is located three blocks from Avenida Paulista on the ``downtown'' or ``centro'' side.
